The Buhl, Idaho-based company announced it “has assumed control” of two trout farms in southern Idaho, near the company’s current operations. The company has also acquired a brood operation to hatch trout eggs near MacKay, Idaho, in the north central portion of the state.
Larry Cope, Clear Springs executive chairman, president and CEO, said not only will the acquisitions allow the company to “significantly” increase production, but it is also part fo the company’s commitment to environmentally-friendly operations.
“Protecting our pristine, spring water resource has been a primary focus for many years,” Cope said. “The possession and operational control of two of these properties is the result of diligent water mitigation negotiation efforts over the past several years. One of the facilities is immediately operational while two of the other facilities will be renovated and brought up to Clear Springs’ standards within 12 to 18 months. Sustainability will continue to be a strong focus for our company.“
