H2M Beverages, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of Liquid Lightning energy drink, Herbal Mist Tea and rehydration beverage 989 On Demand, has received US patent for its cap technology.

Designed to hold liquid or solid in an air-tight chamber, the two-piece cap received its first design patent in 2010 for its upper section.

H2M received second design patent the same year for the lower section of the cap. The cap has a capacity to hold 13g of liquid or powder.

Once the cap's content has been released, the bottom portion is turned counter-clockwise to remove, allowing access to the bottle's now freshly-mixed ingredients.

H2M CEO Charles Musumeci said, "Our cap is not simply head and shoulders above the competition in the beverage category, we are seeing potential use in the pharmaceutical arena, the spirits category and even with certain types of consumer goods. With this utility patent, the door is open to change the way consumers around the world think of "mixing" since our cap delivers an exact amount on demand."

The cap can be currently found on 989 On Demand bottle. The upper section of the cap houses 19oz of reverse osmosis water, which features nine vitamins, 84 minerals and five electrolytes.
