Consumers are thirsting for more than plain-old orange juice, according to new research from Packaged Facts. In a summary of its new report, Fruit and Vegetable Juices: U.S. Market Trends, the market research company notes that superfruits, coconut water and unexpected blends of fruit and vegetable juices have an edge over traditional juices.
Between 2007 and 2012, the report notes, the market for fruit juices and juice drinks has remained stable, yet consumption patterns are changing.
With orange juice consumption declining by 3.6% during that same time period, it appears consumers are shunning traditional choices and opting instead for smoothies, exotic fruit/vegetable blends, coconut water, aloe vera water and juices made with nutritious, intriguing superfruits.
The report offers marketers of juice products an analysis of the juice market, as well as insight on how to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
