Pernod Ricard USA is set to make its handcrafted ultra-premium vodka Absolut Elyx available for sale in the on-premise and select off-premise markets across the US.
Absolut Elyx vodka is made by Absolut master distiller Krister Aperlund, who used a copper still built in 1921 to produce the spirit.
Launched in travel retail in 2011, the Absolut Elyx vodka has since then moved to international markets such as Australia and Brazil.
The Absolut Company chairman and CEO Paul Duffy was quoted by Shanken News Daily as saying that the company will launch the handcrafted and distilled spirit gradually.
"We see this as very much a demand-led rather than pushed-out approach," Duffy added.
Absolut Elyx vodka will now be launched in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, Boston and Washington DC.
The vodka will be released in a 1.75l format for the on-premise accounts in May 2013. A 750ml format of the vodka will also be released later in 2013. The vodka will be sold at suggested retail price of $49.99 per 1l bottle.
