Agraperava Export Growers Ltd. is currently one of Israel's largest and most prominent export companies for Fruits & Vegetables. The company's wide variety of lines include, among others, Table Grapes, Fresh Cut Herbs, Citrus, Pomegranates, Strawberries, Avocadoes, Capsicums, Carrots etc.

The company is well known for its Table Grapes and, over the past few years, has established a status as a major player in the industry. As a matter of fact, this year Arava Export Growers Ltd. anticipates to be exporting approximately 1,000 tons of Early Sweet Table Grapes and potentially some Red/Black grapes as well.

This year, the season for Grapes is expected to start slightly sooner than the previous year.

According to Avi Bar: "we may actually start loading the first containers as soon as week 19, without a doubt, the warm weather in Israel is pushing the season for an early start".

The success the company had experienced last year had paved the way to increase amounts and aim for more distant markets. It does seem, at the moment that demand for top quality grapes is fairly high this year. Rumour has it that Egyptians will not reach a peak this year so, Israeli product is likely to be higher in demand, according to Omer Kamp of Arava.

"For the most part we would consider Western European markets and Eastern European markets as the most active ones, Russia and Holland in particular. However, this year attempts are being made to further expand our operations in the Far East and the UK."

"Many of our clients enjoy an extremely dedicated Quality Assurance protocols which require each and everyone of our growers to carry a Global Gap Certificate, HCAAP, ISO, SA8000 etc., in addition to that, every item is tested periodically and constantly for MRL Residues and Microbiological. It is therefore understandable why many of the super market chains prefer our products."

Programs are already being established and concluded. It is important to start planning ahead of time.

The variety chosen this year for the Grapes is called Early Sweet and its characteristics are as follow:

• Packaging can be offered as such: 5 kg box with 10x500 gr Punnets or 4.50 kg in bags
• Each vine weights approximately 150 gr.
• Size for each grape is at a minimum of 17 mm.
• Season is expected to start at around Mid May.
• Sweetness level this year would be %14 to %15.
