Ian MacLeod Distillers, a Scotland-based spirits business, is set to roll out Tamdhu single malt, following a rebranding of Glengoyne’s single malt in 2012, at Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival (SSWF) to be held from 2-6 May 2013 in Scotland.
The blend will be the first single malt to be released from the Tamdhu distillery since its acquisition by MacLeod from Edrington Group in June 2011.
The company started distilling operations at the Tamdhu distillery in January 2012, after investing around £1m. It further spent around £2.5m to increase warehouse capacity.
The re-opening of the distillery and revamping of the brand partially led to fall in pre-tax profits for MacLeod, which fell from £5.4m in 2011 to £4.76m for the year ended 30 September 2012.
Ian MacLeod Distillers managing director Leonard Russell was quoted by scotsman.com as saying, "The fact our profits dipped last year because we invested in Tamdhu and Glengoyne is not of great concern to me."
MacLeod will use the malt produced at Tamdhu to make its Isle of Skye, Langs and King Robert II brands.
Only 1,000 limited edition bottles of the new look Tamdhu brand will be available for purchase at the whiskey festival.
