US-based Byrne Dairy is set to invest $32m in its Ultra Dairy plant in DeWitt, New York to meet the growing demand for its ultra-pasteurized dairy products.
Of the total investment, $14m will be invested in new equipment in 2013 followed by $18m investment in adding 100,000ft² production space in 2014.
Ultra Dairy produces coffee creamers, milk and other dairy products using the ultra-high-temperature pasteurization process. The products come with a shelf life of 120 days.
Currently, the dairy producer is seeking tax exemptions for the project from the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA).
Byrne Dairy senior vice president Nick Marsella said that the long shelf life of the products enables the company to distribute their products across the US including Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
The company also operates another milk plant in Syracuse, New York. Milk for its plants is supplied by 278 farms in Syracuse.
