Domaine Clarence Dillon, owner of Bordeaux-based Chateau Haut-Brion, has purchased Chateau L’Arrosee, a Grand Cru Classe wine estate in Saint Emilion, France, for an undisclosed amount.
The L'Arrosee property has been under the ownership of Roger and Jean-Philippe Caille since 2002.
The 9.5ha Chateau L'Arrosée is surrounded by 15ha Château Quintus, which Domaine Clarence Dillon has purchased in 2011.
Unlike other St Emilion estates, L'Arrosee is planted with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The statement issued by Domaine Clarence Dillon read, "The Dillon family looks forward to continuing the exceptional work undertaken in this vineyard by Monsieur Roger Caille and his family since their arrival at this exceptional estate in 2002."
Domaine Clarence Dillon spokesperson said no decisions on the running of the property would be taken until the closure of the deal.
The purchase agreement, which was signed on 29 May 2013, is expected to be closed in September 2013.
Domaine Clarence Dillon will also see the first 2011 release of Chateau Quintus in the market.
The acquistion was made through Domaine Clarence Dillon subsidiary Quintus SAS.
