Altamont Capital Partners, a US-based private equity firm, has acquired Richard's Cajun Foods, a manufacturer of Cajun food products, and Blue Ribbon, a South East Texas bacon and sausage brand from Atlantic Premium Brands.

The acquisition includes the Carlton factory in New Braunfels, Texas, and the Richard's factory in Church Point, Louisiana.

Richard's, established in 1981, offers a range of smoked sausages, ready-to-eat-meals and other traditional Cajun products sold in Louisiana, Texas and other Southeast states.

Blue Ribbon, founded in 1948, is a leading brand of bacon and sausage in the South East Texas market.

The companies will form the Tall Tree Foods Holdings, a newly formed holding company led by Altamont's operating partner Tim Bruer.

Tim Bruer was a CEO for several specialty food companies, including Nonni's Food, and prior to that a vice-president/general manager for Nestle's Culinary Products Division.

Altamont principal Steve Brownlie said that Richard's and Blue Ribbon have deep roots and a long history in the markets they serve.

"We are thrilled to begin our partnership with Tim as CEO, and look forward to building the Tall Tree Foods platform leveraging his experience and expertise," Brownlie added.

Atlantic Premium Brands is a food holding company involved in acquiring, growing and divesting specialty meat, food and beverage businesses.
