In recent years, Tianlin in Guangxi province has improved its investment and strengthened its policy regarding developing net cage fishing farming around electric power plant, based on its rich waters resources. This year, its net cage fish farming production was up to 1, 990 tonnes, pushing the whole production of aquatic products up to 4, 163 tonnes and total output value up to 41, 631, 900 yuan. Net-cage fishing farming in this county has grown into a supporting industry of improving production, effectiveness and revenue.
Tianlin County boasts a large number of reservoirs and rivers. With the completion of Longtan Hydropower Station, Baise Water Conservancy Project and Dongba Hydropower Station, the waters area of reservoir in Tianlin has reached 8 million mu. In order to make full use of the water resources, develop aquaculture industry and promote fishermen’ incoming, the county carried out 4 big net-cage faring project in 2013 with supporting funding given by the autonomous region. Later, it built another 3 net-cage farming demonstration project and set up 3 professional cooperatives.
This year, Tianlin county released “precise poverty alleviation” policy that each pool fisherman family could receive 3, 5000 yuan industrial support funds each year after its identity of being poor was qualified. The policy has mobilized fishermen’ enthusiasm in developing net cage farming and helped to create good momentum to the county’s fisheries development. According to statistics, the county developed 223 new net cages for farming fish. The whole annual net cage farming was up to 2784 boxes, speeding up the pace of people out of poverty.
