BenRiach Distillery, a Scotland-based single malt Scotch whiskey distillery, and GlenDronach, a Scotch whiskey distillery owned by BenRiach, have announced the release of their two oldest single malts in existence.

The BenRiach distillery will roll out Vestige, a 46yo single malt Scotch whiskey that was distilled and filled to cask on 21 September 1966, whereas the GlenDronach will unveil Recherché, a 44yo highland single malt whiskey that was distilled and filled to cask on 24 September 1968.

The 'classic Speyside' style whiskey, Vestige, was matured for 46 years in a traditional hogshead and was bottled at 44.1% ABV. Only 62 bottles of the whiskey will be available for purchase throughout the world.

The full-bodied, richly-sherried single malt whiskey, Recherché, was matured for 44yo in Oloroso sherry butt and was bottled at a cask strength of 48.6% ABV. A limited number of 632 bottles of the whiskey will be available for purchase worldwide.

The UK retail price for Vestige is £3999.99, while that of Recherché is £2749.99.

BenRiach Distillery managing director Billy Walker said a combination of barley, water, excellent oak and the passage of time have combined to create liquid history.

"These special bottlings, which represent our oldest mature stock, are in impeccable condition, and are testament to the enormous attention to detail applied by the current and the previous custodians of our distilleries," Walker added.

"Together, "Vestige" and "Recherché" are a celebration of the phenomenal craft of two distilleries over a period spanning more than four decades."
