Terlato Wines, a US-based marketer of luxury wines, has formed a new Artisan Spirits division to meet the consumer’s needs in the fast growing category.
The new division will have a selection of hand-crafted spirits sourced from all round the world including gin, vodka, Scotch, cognac, tequila, rum and others. It will also have its own dedicated sales and marketing team.
Terlato Wines CEO William A Terlato said the spirits business is evolving.
"It's starting to look a lot like the wine business, with mixologists, craft bartenders and consumers embracing a new category of small-production, hand-crafted, super-premium brands," Terlato added.
"Our Luxury Wine Report indicates that today's consumers are actively looking for new brands and categories to discover and share, and their preference for luxury wines and craft spirits is growing well above the category."
To form the division, Terlato has partnered with Langley's No 8 gin and Tigre Blanc vodka brands, which will be added to Tertalo portfolio.
Produced at the Langley Distillery in Birmingham, the Langley's No. 8 gin is distilled in a 53yo copper pot still by using 100% English grain spirit and a blend of eight secret botanicals. It will be available in early 2014.
Langley's No. 8 co-founder Mark Dawkins said Terlato is an ideal partner for their brand.
"We hit it off right away, when we saw their brand-building expertise and passion for their brands. We're excited to have Terlato launch Langley's No. 8 in the States," Dawkins added.
Originally created by the Belleville family, the French boutique vodka brand Tigre Blanc is a super premium vodka made from 100% French wheat and spring water.
Tigre Blanc was recently introduced in Paris, London, Dubai and New Delhi, and will soon be available in New York, Chicago and Miami in early 2014.
