Terlato Wines, an Illinois-based full-service wine sales and marketing firm, has formed a joint venture (JV) with olive oil producer Colavita to create a collection of super-premium Italian wines.
The partnership is the first between a food brand and a wine company to produce and market a collection of Italian wines around the world, claims the company.
Under the deal, Terlato will produce and market wines under the Colavita brand name. The wines that will be initially launched throughout the globe include Pinot Grigio, Verdicchio, Pinot Noir and Valpolicella Ripasso.
Terlato Wines CEO Bill Terlato said Colavita is a well-known Italian brand in the world.
"They have earned their leadership position and share our commitment to exceptional quality," Terlato added.
"Colavita is a trusted, highly sought-after brand with high awareness among luxury food and wine lovers. We are very pleased to be working with the Colavita and Profaci families."
Colavita president Enrico Colavita said the company knew that the Terlato family would be the ideal partner for their brand.
"They are the strongest company for marketing luxury wines and their vision for the Colavita wine brand is precisely what we are looking for. We are confident that our partnership with the Terlato family will enhance the Colavita brand," Colavita added.
Colavita wines will be available throughout the nation from August 2013. The company further plans to add additional wines to the line.
