Core Tip: A 27-litre and 18-litre bottle of Cirsion 2010 have gone on sale at Mayfair fine wine shop Hedonism, adding weight to the growing trend for large format bottles in the UK capital.
Priced at £5,0Cirsion00 for the 18-litre bottle and £8,500 for the 27-litre, the equivalent to 24 and 36 bottles respectively, they are the largest formats in the world of Cirsion and were produced exclusively for the shop.

Designed by leading glass specialist Vetri Speciali, the 27-litre bottle weighs 10kg when empty and stands 77cm high.

The latest vintage of Roda’s flagship wine made from 100% Tempranillo from old vines in Rioja Alta and aged for eight months in new French oak, Cirsion 2010 had its global launch in London this May.

Hedonism’s Russian owner, Evgeny Chichvarkin, is said to have come up with the idea for the wine boutique after struggling to get hold of any Cirsion 2001 in London.

“When we heard about the story of why Hedonism came to be, we felt so proud it was in part due to our wine,” Victor Charcan, Roda’s export manager, told db.

“We wanted to thank Mr. Chichvarkin in some way and big bottles were the way to do it,” he added.

Just 7,000 bottles of Cirsion 2010 were made, priced at £160 for a 75cl bottle.

Earlier this month, fine wine shop Le Clos in Dubai International Airport put a 12-litre Balthazar of Château Margaux 2009 on sale for £122,000, making it the most expensive single bottle of wine ever to be retailed.
