Canadian salmon farmer Skuna Bay has announced two new distribution partnerships that will bring its farmed salmon to six new U.S. states, according to the company.
Through a partnership with Seattle Fish Co. of Kansas City, Skuna Bay's salmon will be available starting 4 November in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Nebraska. Another partnership, also starting on 4 November, with Connecticut Shellfish Co., brings the salmon to Connecticut and expands beyond New York City to Long Island and upstate New York.
"For the past year and a half we have worked closely with the Seattle Fish team and we never fail to be impressed with their progressive and professional approach," said Dave Mergle, director for Skuna Bay.
About the company's new Connecticut partner, Mergle said, "We are always excited to be able to provide our salmon to new areas and new chefs so when an operation such as Connecticut Shellfish reaches out to ask you to help service their customers, we felt we had the right partner with passion for excellence in salmon."
Skuna Bay sells its salmon at more than 1,800 high-end restaurants and boutique retailers in the United States and Canada, largely in urban markets.
"No question we have been wanting to expand Skuna Bay to our Kansas City operation for some time," said Scott Godke, General Manager of Seattle Fish Co. "It is important to us at Seattle Fish that we work with conscientious farmers and producers who think about things like high standards, leadership in responsible rearing practices and attention to detail."
"We had heard a lot about Skuna Bay," said Arnold Pappas , sales manager of Connecticut Shellfish Co. "What we discovered was that through their commitment to raising salmon the right way they truly were consistently delivering customers a great salmon experience every time."
