Land O’Lakes, an American food and agricultural co-operative, has joined dairy platform GlobalDairy Trade, in a move to sell dairy products through the platform in March 2014.
Initially, the company is expected to sell skim milk powder on GlobalDairy Trade. It plans to sell butter later in 2014.
GlobalDairy Trade claims that it currently has six firms, which sell skim milk powder.
Commenting on the collaboration, GlobalDairy Trade Director Paul Grave said, "This further demonstrates GDT's expanding role as a key platform for international trade in a broad range of dairy commodities."
Meanwhile, the increasing consumer demand for milk products in emerging economies like China is the key reason for companies showing interest in joining GlobalDairy Trade.
Land O'Lakes manages about 5.4 million tons of milk annually, operates in more than 50 countries in agribusiness and food production, including Land O'Lakes, Purina Animal Nutrition and WinField.
