Veracruz is the world's leading producer of limes, with more than 42,000 hectares and more than 555,000 tons of annual production valued at 1,480 million pesos (114.1 million dollars). In 2014 Veracruz will be able to export limes to Korea as Senasica announced the opening of twenty plant products in ten countries.

Senasica, a division of Sagarpa, negotiated with Korea's QIA so that they could export Persian limes into the Asian country.

Persian lime exports are estimated to start in the first quarter of 2014 after experts from Senasica held a successful bilateral technical meeting with their counterparts in Korea.

The opening of this new market represents a new option for domestic producers. Currently, Mexico has around 153,443 hectares of Persian lime, which yields an annual output of more than 1,891,000 tonnes.

Since last year, Mexican producers of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries have been able to export their products to Singapore and Taiwan, while producers of table grapes have been able to export to Indonesia.
