The Federal Government will spend more than 250 million pesos this year in actions and programmes that will help to revive, in the short term, fisheries and aquaculture production in Veracruz, as well as providing more food for the Mexican population, the National Aquaculture and Fisheries commissioner, Mario Aguilar Sánchez, announced.

He said that the plan is part of the commitment of President Enrique Peña Nieto for productivity in the country and to help promote and generate greater dynamism of fisheries and aquaculture.

The state of Veracruz has historically been the center of reference for national fisheries and aquaculture production and will remain that way with the investment projects.

Around 35 million pesos has already been spent in the replacement of small boats and motors.
