French online grocery group Toupargel has made a bid to increase it's market share in the country with the acquisition of Le Comptoir du Frozen, a retailer who specialises in home deliveries of frozen products.
The deal was finalised last Thursday, and involves Tourpagel taking control of 13 new branches which are located in local and suburban areas surrounding central and east central France.
Le Comptoir du Frozen was a family owned company, whose headquarters is located near Vichy. It owns stores under the brand names of Allier, Puy de Dôme, Haute Vienne, Creuse, Ain, Côte d'Or, Loire and Saone et Loire.
Le Comptoir du Frozen has been a great success story in France, because of its performance despite its relatively small team. It employs 50 people and in 2013 recorded sales of €5.6 million.
Both Toupargel and Le Comptoir du Frozen offer a similar service to customers, the delivery of frozen food products which are ordered online, directly to homes.
Details of what Toupargel have paid for their new asset have not been released.
