RedStar ended in the Top 5 tomato growers in the world at the first Tomato Inspiration Event. The jury report awarded the company the title ‘B-to-B Champion of Europe’ for its innovative efforts in the area of marketing and sales. The selection of ‘Best Tomato Grower in the World’ was a high-profile element of the Tomato Inspiration Event, which took place during Fruit Logistica in Berlin. The world’s sixty best tomato growers were represented at the event.
The Tomato Inspiration Event is an initiative of HortiBiz, a new collaboration platform for a number of prominent suppliers in the greenhouse horticulture sector: Bayer CropScience, Cultilene, GreenQ/DLV Plant, Koppert Biological Systems, Nunhems, Priva, Revaho and Svensson. On the occasion of Fruit Logistica, the new platform invited the world’s largest tomato growers to an exclusive event, held on Thursday 6 February in the Ellington Hotel in Berlin.
The high point of the evening was the announcement of the ‘Best Tomato Grower in the World’. The most important criteria for the jury in the first selection were the performances in marketing and sales. RedStar was awarded a place in the world’s Top 5 growers. The jury especially praised the inspiring relationship that the supplier of premium tasty tomatoes maintains with large European retailers, which resulted in RedStar being awarded the title ‘B-to-B Champion of Europe’.
RedStar was also awarded the Natural Protected certificate during Fruit Logistica: the first vegetable grower to receive this certificate. The Natural Protected certificate represents pesticide-free growing. At the stand of the certification organisation MPS-ECAS, Johan Nels, the CCO of RedStar, spoke of his great pride and satisfaction: ‘People in our organisation have been working incredibly hard these last few months, in order to achieve this certificate. When you finally succeed in this, the whole organisation can be extremely proud.’
