Dutch food firm Wessanen has signed a deal to sell its wholesale business comprising Natudis to wholesaler Vroegop Ruhe, for an undisclosed sum.
The sale is part of the company's strategy to further strengthen its own brands in the healthy and sustainable European market.
Natudis is part of the European distribution activities of Wessanen and is a wholesaler of organic and reform products in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) under the De Rit, Natufood, Ekoland, Vetara, Molenaartje and Tartex brands.
The unit operates Dutch fresh food wholesaler Kroon, and Belgian organic food distributor Hagor as well as owns the Natuurwinkel franchise concept in the Netherlands.
Wessanen gained full control of Natudis in March 2006, when it acquired 29.7% of shares that were previously held by one of the founders.
Vroegop is Dutch wholesaler and importer of organic potatoes, vegetables, fruit and produce. It also provides logistics services of food products for food service and retail establishments.
