Gourmet Trading, a distributor of fresh asparagus in North America, has selected FoodLink’s produce traceability platform for all of its packed and shipped produce within the US.

The company's website features a link to FoodLink where retailers can trace the lot code, global trade item number (GTIN) and product name using the code on their PTI label.

According to FoodLink, consumers and retailers are demanding more information for the food they purchase.

As a result, fresh produce growers and shippers are opting for traceability solutions to enable faster and cost effective information sharing such as where food is grown, and packed all the way through the supply chain.

Gourmet Trading Food Safety director Evagelina Kaudze said, "We have started to implement the system in our largest region. We are pleased with the results and look forward to rolling the system out in additional regions soon."

FoodLink chief marketing officer Kevin Brooks said, "The fresh food industry is getting serious about supply chain transparency, and FoodLink customers are realizing the benefits of cloud-based solutions and real-time data to bring fresh, safe food to market more efficiently than ever before."
