As more and more people head to far flung destinations they are becoming more familiar with previously unheard of exotic fruits. Soraya Bahrami and her business partner have taken it upon themselves to bring these exotic fruits to consumers in the UK.

Both ex-bankers, looking for a more holistic lifestyle, they started Toucan Fruit. Soraya is half Mauritian, which is where her original interest stemmed from. They started importing rare exotic fruit from Mauritius and whilst travelling and building supplier relationships, now import exotics from Colombia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

High-end retailers such as Harrods and Panzers are among those that sell these fruits, "They are sold as premium products due to their relative rarity and interesting flavours," explains Soraya.

Most of the products are available all year round and are flown in on a just-in-time basis to ensure freshness; excess stock is juiced and sold at the prestigious Partridges markets around London.
