Turkish cherry producers are currently aiming to export to China, where according to the president of Uludağ Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association (UYMSİB), Dr Saleh Bush, the fruit is truly appreciated. He also said that Turkey is looking forward to exporting to the world's most populous country.

A delegation of quarantine experts from the Republic of China already visited Turkey to find out about Turkey's phytosanitary inspection system and any possible food safety issues.

Turkey produced around 500,000 tonnes of cherries last season. Bush emphasised that "our cherries offer different sizes and a different flavour, which was admired by the Chinese delegation. We meet all the requirements and provided them with all the information they needed. The delegation also visited the cherry orchards and agricultural facilities," he explained.
