Doves Farm Foods Launches New Gourmet Collection of Flours and Grains

The new range comprises nine Gourmet Flours and four Gourmet Grains, many of which are organic but all of which are naturally gluten free.

The launch responds to the growing demand for gluten free products as the free from sector continues to thrive.

As pioneers within the gluten free market, Doves Farm Foods prides itself on a reputation for experimenting with unusual grains to provide variety in the diets of people with gluten intolerance, or for people who simply enjoy cooking with interesting, alternative ingredients.

From June Tesco Extra Stores will be stocking:

Doves Farm Gluten Free Teff Flour (110g) – hailed by many as ‘the hot new super grain,’ teff is an ancient grain as small as a poppy seed and believed to date as far back as 4000-1000 BC.

With advocates such as Gwyneth Paltrow this is expected to sell well and is one of the first branded teff products on the market.

Doves Farm Gluten Free Buckwheat Flour (130g) – Buckwheat was first cultivated within China from 1000BC and spread from there to Europe – it is not actually a cereal but a fruit seed, related to rhubarb and sorrel.

This flour is great for pancakes and can add slight sweetness to baking.

Doves Farm Gluten Free Organic Millet Flour (120g) – before rice was widely consumed in Asia, it’s thought that different forms of millet were the region’s staple grain.

This flour is milled from wholegrain millet and is traditionally used to make a variety of flatbreads, fritters and porridge.

· Doves Farm Gluten Free Organic Maize Flour (120g) – prepared from wholegrain maize, this finely ground pale yellow flour will add flavour and colour to both sweet and savoury baking.

· Doves Farm Gluten Free Tapioca Flour (110g) – prepared from cassava root this starchy flour is excellent for giving pie fillings and sauces a clear, glossy finish.

· Doves Farm Gluten Free Organic Brown Rice Flour (120g) – flour milled from wholegrain brown rice.

This flour is ideal for thickening sauces and soups and with its wholesome, nutty flavour it’s also great for baking.

· Doves Farm Gluten Free Organic Chickpea Flour (120g) – flour milled from dried organic chickpeas or garbanzo beans.

Many cuisines use this flour for flat breads, savoury and sweet dishes.

· Doves Farm Gluten Free Potato Flour (150g) – starchy flour sometimes called fécule in French recipes.

Potato flour makes a smooth non-gelatinous gravy or sauce and can add lightness to your baking.

Doves Farm Foods is also launching Doves Farm Gluten Free Organic Quinoa Flour (110g) – another fashionable grain, referred to by the Incas as the ‘Mother of all grain’ and expected to prove a popular cupboard essential.
