Good fruit harvest volumes are expected all across Europe and this could significantly reduce producer prices.
For their part, Hungarian growers expect a 150 to 200 thousand tonne higher domestic yield this autumn, reaching 780,000 tonnes, of which about half a million correspond to Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county.
Of this 780,000 tonne harvest, only 30% is intended for fresh consumption and 70% goes to the processing industry for the manufacture of products such as apple concentrate and apple juice. Prices are only expected to continue declining because of the higher yields across Europe.
