The Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (VPSS) has announced the removal of suspension on importing seafood into Russia from seven Vietnamese companies.

The companies include five frozen pangasius producers and two frozen shrimp processors, reports VASEP.

Russia had suspended imports of Vietnamese pangasius fillets since the 31 January and local exporters had attributed high food hygiene requirements to the suspension.

According to the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (Nafiqad), 602 Vietnamese enterprises have been recognized as meeting food hygiene criteria for export to Europe but Russia accepts only 34 firms.
