The American Internet commerce giant Amazon.com is launching its AmazonFresh grocery shopping platform in the UK. The project was originally implanted in only a few cities of the United States. This is the beginning of the expansion of the American company in the European food market. The presence of a player of that calibre in Europe could completely change the market in the next few years.
According to the "Daily Mail", Amazon has leased a warehouse of approximately 28 thousand square metres in the county of Surrey, near London; facilities which were previously used by Tesco.
The AmazonFresh service has been present in the United States since 2007, available for residents in Seattle, New York and California. The concept AmazonFresh offers fresh products, including fruits and vegetables, and is equipped with its own fleet of trucks.
