After releasing organic bananas as the flagship product in the valley of Alto Piura, Sierra Exportadora started the business plan to promote this fruit in major international markets.
"Our goal is also to position that valley as one of the key figures of production in the region," said the head of the Office of Sierra Exportadora in Piura, Jimmy Torres.
He stated that this business plan was an addition to the plans on coffee, cocoa, sugar cane, tare and trout being carried out by Sierra Exportadora in this region. He also said that they would focus their efforts on organic bananas by planting between 200 and 300 hectares of them, benefiting more than 600 farmers.
Torres said they would have the support of Dole Peru, which will seek to ensure the market for production. He also said there would be additional support for farmers in the field schools and that they would conduct internships so that agricultural producers visit the farms or model plots.
