From January to June 2015, consumer prices for fruit in Russia grew by 25.4%, whereas the EU average increase was only 5.4%, as reported by Rosstat.
In general food products in Russia in the first seven months of 2015 grew in price by 10.6%, while in the EU prices decreased by 0.1%.
In several EU states, food prices in January-July 2015 increased significantly, but even in the most 'unfortunate' countries, their increase was several times lower than in Russia. In Hungary products rose by only 3.3%, and in Slovenia 2.7%.
At the same time, the increase in prices of individual product groups in some states of the EU has been rather on the Russian level. For example, fruit in Bulgaria between January-July 2015 grew in price by 26.2%, in Slovakia by 23.2%, Slovenia by 22.1%, in Estonia by 18%, and in Hungary the price of fruit suddenly jumped by 42.6%.
