The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced that the country has exported a total of 124 thousand tonnes of domestic agricultural products to overseas markets during the first two weeks of 2016.
In a report issued by the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, the Government insists that it continues to support and stimulate exports as part of its plan to reach the target set for 2016, which is 5 million tonnes.
The report said that the total Egyptian exports during the first 15 days of this year amounted to 106,375 tonnes of fruit and 18,334 tonnes of vegetables.
Meanwhile, it reported that Egypt's fruit imports reached 13,419 tonnes, while the total amount of vegetables imported stood at 548 tonnes.
The report also insisted on the country's plans for the implementation of good practices in agriculture, intended to expand agricultural exports to foreign destinations and increase the return of foreign exchange in order to improve Egypt's capacity to import foodstuffs from abroad.
