To stabilize vegetable prices, 18 temporary direct sales vegetables centers have been established as of 10th of February in the city of Haikou, on the island of Hainan, by the local government.

This is to boost direct distribution, purchase and delivery of fresh vegetables. In the future a retail outlet network will be build that will include all large communities in the city, so that consumers can purchase affordable vegetables within 10 to 15 minutes from their doorsteps. The processing and distribution of state-owned enterprises will reduce intermediate links, which will finally lower down the price of vegetables and deliver more affordable vegetables to local consumers.
