Dr Essam Fayed, Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, announced that the Ministry continues its plan to expand into new markets abroad and boost the country's agricultural exports to various countries around the world, especially Europe and Asia, through the application of good practices.
In a statement last Saturday, he reported that Egypt's total fruit and vegetable exports so far in the year 2016 have reached 932,679 tonnes, with fruit shipments accounting for 629,883 tonnes and vegetable exports totalling 302,796 tonnes.
The Minister of Agriculture said that Egypt's agricultural exports overseas have seen a big jump in the current 2015/2016 campaign, with the total volume of potatoes, citrus fruits, strawberries and grapes reaching two million, 49 thousand and 552 tonnes so far. Also the volume of onions exported is noteworthy, with 475,738 tonnes shipped so far.
