Core Tip: The first early cherries from Kyustendil have already hit the Bulgarian market.
The first early cherries from Kyustendil have already hit the Bulgarian market. The price stands at between 2 and 4 Lev per kilo (1.02 to 2.05 Euro), depending on the quality. Until recently, early cherries from Petrich were being sold at that same price. Despite severe losses caused by frosts, local cherry producers in Kyustendil have still managed to grow fruits and prefer to sell them on the market.

Harvest estimates point to the arrival of higher quality fruit after mid-June, with prices that could reach up to 5 Lev per kilo (2.56 Euro).

In the stands there are also apricots, but these are imported from Greece. Meanwhile, the range of vegetables available is mainly of domestic production. The prices of greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers range between 1.50 and 3 Lev per kilo (between 0.77 and 1.53 Euro).
