The pitahaya, which is also known as dragon fruit, continues crossing borders and has reached the Asian market and part of the Americas thanks to the country's free trade agreements. As a result, Sierra Exportadora has been promoting the cultivation of this crop in highlands of Piura for a few months.

They have also been conducting training in the production and marketing of Pitahaya, in coordination with the district municipality of Montero and the provincial municipality of Huancabamba. The workshop focuses on the management and promotion of this exotic fruit, which is highly demanded in major culinary cities throughout the world, such as Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid.

Sierra Exportadora will be developing its training in the auditoriums of the community houses of the region until June 9. Then, they will cultivate pitahaya crops in the plots that are ready for this purpose in Montero and Huancabamba.

Pitahayas have vitamin C, are rich in antioxidants, and have anti-inflammatory properties. They are frequently used to manufacture beverages, gourmetdishes, and to prepare gelatins, ice creams, yogurts, and jams.
