Potatoes still in storage in June made up 13% of total Fall 2015 production, down 1% from 2015, according to a June 17 Potato Stocks report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
June 1 stocks were down from last year but up from June 2014, when 46.9 million cwt. had yet to ship.
About 21.5 million cwt. had yet to ship from Idaho, 11.5 million cwt. from Washington, 3.7 million cwt. from Colorado, 3.6 million cwt. from North Dakota, 3 million cwt. from Oregon and 2.5 million cwt. each from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Potato disappearance as of June 1 was 346 million cwt., up 2% from the year before. Shrink and loss, at 24 million cwt., was down 6%.
