The first shipment of Peruvian fresh asparagus, which was exported by air in April this year by the Peruvian company DanPer Trujillo, was sold on the fresh produce section of CitySuper supermarket chain located in Shanghai.
DanPer Trujillo, which has become the provider of CitySuper in China, sent its fourth shipment of fresh green asparagus, and some white asparagus, a few weeks ago.
Even though the asparagus' offer is high between May and July, China has only received four air shipments of that product, both of tips and spears, in the last three months.
Meanwhile, the CitySuper supermarket chain in Shanghai highlighted that asparagus had achieved very good acceptance among high-end Chinese consumers during their summer season. In that sense, it is possible that the Peruvian vegetable has already begun to position itself in said Chinese city.
It's important to know that....
The Peruvian asparagus came to China after the authorities of China signed a health protocol for sale in 2013 and after completing the procedures to allow its entry two years later.
The Peruvian asparagus stands out for its quality, despite having a greater comparative price because of air freight.
Shanghai is the most dynamic and commercial city in China.
