The Romanian National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has carried out a new set of tests to check the pesticide residues in fruit and vegetables imported between 22 and 28 July 2016.
Health inspectors of the ANSVSA have controlled 92 shipments of products of non-animal products imported from the following third countries: Turkey, Macedonia, Ukraine, China, Ecuador, Argentina, South Africa, Moldova and Serbia, with a volume totalling 24.468 tonnes.
Of these, 49 shipments have been verified at the points of destination (authorised deposit) and 43 at the Border Inspection Posts of North Constanta, South Constanta, Moravia, Siret and Albita.
The fruit and vegetable checked include onions, beans, tomatoes, grapefruit, lemons, bananas, apples, pears, grapes, cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums, with samples taken for analysis in the laboratory to determine the presence of permissible levels of pesticide residues.
