"More than 140,000 tons of protected ground vegetables are to be grown in the Moscow Region by 2020," said Andrey Razin, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.
The existing shortage of fresh vegetables is expected to be eliminated by a further development of greenhouse vegetable growing in the Moscow Region.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, 33,000 tons of protected ground vegetables are to be grown in heated greenhouses in 2017. The increase in vegetable growing is to be 12,000 tons as compared to that in the previous year, due to the implementation of new investment projects in the construction of modern greenhouse complexes. It is planned to grow 140,000 tons of fresh vitamin-containing products such as cucumbers and tomatoes by 2020.
