According to a notice on Trader Joe’s website, they are recalling their branded Kohlrabi Salad Blend for potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The company’s supplier notified them of this issue. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.
The recalled product is Trader Joe’s Kohlrabi Salad Blend with SKU number 58614. The product has best before dates of October 14, 2017, October 15, 2017, and October 16, 2017. It was sold in Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.
If you bought this product with these date codes, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed package or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures. Wash your hands well after handling this product.
If you ate this product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear. These symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women need to be especially careful of this type of infection, since this illness can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn.
