The frosts recorded during the month of May and a recent hail storm have taken a severe toll on the fields of La Ribera and this will cause kaki prices at origin to double. This is the prediction of Benjamín Nogués, vice president of the Association of Kaki Producers (Aproka), an entity that was officially presented this week in Alberic, and which is born with the idea of serving as a link for producers in the province. "It is true that most of the members, if not all, are from La Ribera, but if a kaki producer comes from Chiva, for example, they will certainly also have our support," said Nogués .
The spokesperson of the producers confirmed yesterday that Aproka, which is already in the official register of associations, was born as a Whatsapp group. "We first set up a group to share information and we quickly reached the limit of 256 contacts; then another group was created and that one was also full quickly. This communication channel has been very useful, because it is instantaneous and very intuitive. We then realised that we needed to join forces to defend our rights," said the vice president of Aproka.
