The "Qiongzhong green oranges", produced in the Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County in Hainan, recently ripened and entered the market. The price is great this year. The purchase price in orange orchards is 13 yuan [1.87 USD] per 0.5 kg, while the market price is between 16 and 18 yuan [2.31-2.59 USD] per 0.5 kg. This is a price increase of around 7% in comparison with the same period last year.
The Hainan Daily reported that the surface area devoted to "Qiongzhong green orange" plantation reached 2 thousand hectares, of which 333 hectares of fruit bearing trees. The production volume is estimated at 1.5 million kg with an estimated production value of 40 million yuan [5.76 million USD].
Data shows that there are more than 200 farmers and agricultural companies who produce "Qiongzhong green oranges". The overall surface area devoted to "Qiongzhong green orange" plantation in Qiongzhong County increased by more than 1,333 hectares in 2015-2017. The annual production volume is estimated to reach 5 million kg by 2020.
