Mannarich Food, Inc., the importer of record that is based in Toronto, Canada, is recalling about 145,245 pounds of Siluriformes (catfish) products that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection. These fish products were imported on dates that range from June 26, 2017 through November 13, 2018. All foods imported into this country must be inspected at the border. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
The recalled products have a shelf life of two years. All lots of all of these products are recalled. The recalled products are:
300-gram plastic containers containing “FISH PASTE.”
300-gram plastic containers containing “MANNARICH FISH PASTE WITH BLACK MOSS.”
2-kg sealed plastic bags containing “FISH PASTE WITH BLACK MOSS.”
3-kg sealed plastic bags containing “FISH BALL WITH BLACK MOSS.”
2-kg sealed plastic bags containing “FISH PASTE.”
The fish products were imported from Malaysia, a country that isn’t eligible to expert Siluriformes to the United States. These products were shipped to wholesale and retail locations across the country.
The problem was discovered on November 19, 2018 by the USDA’s FSIS inspectors through routine monitoring. FSIS is concerned that some of these products may be frozen in consumers’ home freezers.
If you bought any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store where you purchased them for a refund.
The USDA will conduct recall effectiveness checks to make sure that the firms are notifying their customers about this recall.
