Turkey has the opportunity to increase its tomato exports to the Russian market. The Russian government is planning to purchase over 100,000 tons of Turkish tomatoes in 2019.
Citing the Interfax agency and government sources, Fruchtportal.de reports that trade relations between Russia and Turkey are warming up. Russia's purchase of 100,000 tons of tomatoes will mark an end to the embargo on some fruits of Turkish origin, such as tomatoes, citrus fruits, apples, cabbage, broccoli, stone fruits, cucumbers or strawberries.
According to reports from the Russian government, this is the first step towards the entry of more Turkish fruits and vegetables into the Russian market.
