The price of green peppers in the Wanbang Market showed an upward trend. There are several reasons for this development: first, the supply volume of green peppers from Hainan and Guangdong is shrinking. The supply volume from Hainan fell by 50% as their green pepper production season comes to an end. Guangdong peppers have practically disappeared from the market. The market now mainly relies on green pepper supply from Shandong. The overall supply volume greatly decreased and was unable to meet demand, so naturally the price went up. Second, the majority of green peppers in the market are top-quality products.
The main supply comes from production areas in Shandong, with secondary supply from production areas in northeast China. Even though there are only two supply areas, the product quality is excellent and the market is dominated by top-quality products packaged in boxes, which further increases the price. The green peppers are mainly sold to high-end customers such as hotels and restaurants.
The market is gradually returning to regular levels of trade activity. The supply of and demand for green peppers are moving towards a balance, and the price will likely be stable or slightly decrease.
