The Chinese bayberries from Shiping County in Yunnan entered the market in the last week of February. This early-season variety entered the market one month earlier than last year, setting a local record for the earliest harvest of bayberries ever in Shiping. The harvest began early this year because the weather is relatively warm. The price of Shiping bayberries is quite high as bayberries from other production areas are not yet ripe and have not yet entered the market. The bayberries are mainly sold in Zhejiang, Shanghaid, and Beijing. Demand currently exceeds supply.
