For many Dutch asparagus farmers, it is that time of year again. They need to start preparing for the coming asparagus season. They have to consider, for instance, which varieties to plant. The growers also need to order the materials they will need.
From this year, asparagus products company, Teboza, will not only have the usual black and white plastic. They will also offer green and black plastic.
This color combination is of just about the same quality as the regular black-white plastic. It just fits better with the surrounding landscape. "It is another step in the direction of growing asparagus more responsibly," says Roger Lenders.
Teboza also has standard materials like asparagus plastic and mini tunnel braces. They have blow tunnels and weighted bags for holding down these tunnels too.
Organic asparagus plants
Teboza has added organic asparagus plants to its range. This company can supply farmers with organic asparagus plants. This will be as of the coming 2020 planting season.
These plants have been grown in organic soil. They have been checked by the Dutch Inspection Service for Horticulture, NakTuinbouw. SKAL, a Dutch biotech company, have also examined the plants.
