The apple production passed 1.9 mln tonnes in Kashmir last year, an increase of over 100,000 tonnes from 2018. The Department of Horticulture revealed that Kashmir produced 1,953,314 tonnes of apple in 2019. The Baramulla district topped the list, with production touching 479,570 tonnes.
In 2012 and 2011, apple production was recorded at 1,321,317 and 1,730,609 tonnes respectively. 2010 was one of the profitable years for the growers when annual apple production touched 18, 22,058 tonnes.
