Melitta USA, part of the privately held Germany-based Melitta Group, has selected the UpShot Solution of LBP Manufacturing to foray into the single-serve coffee market.
The UpShot Solution features Melitta's eco-friendly pre-filled, single-serve filter that is compatible with Keurig and other single-serve brewers.
The proprietary 100% recyclable polypropylene mesh in the UpShot filter delivers a sensory appeal to the brewing process.
Consumers can see and smell their coffee or tea from the moment they open the Fresh Seal.
Melitta marketing vice president Chris Hillman said that LBP's UpShot Solution was in line with their business model for both branded and business to business.
"The UpShot Solution is more environmentally-friendly than current products in the market and offers consumers a better cup of coffee. In addition, we are able to offer our customers a very flexible business model so that they too can enter the single-serve coffee category," he added.
Melitta plans to install customized equipment at its facility in Cherry Hill, New Jersey by year-end and will begin offering single-serve packs using the UpShot Solution technology through national and regional grocery chains by early 2013.
Chicago-based LBP Manufacturing offers hot beverage solutions such as the original Coffee Clutch hot cup sleeve, Beverage on the Move insulated beverage to-go carrier and THERMO GRIP double-wall hot cups.
Melitta produces coffee and filters in North America and markets the line in the US.
