Small is beautiful when it comes to feeding kids, says Yorkshire-based Bannisters' Farm, which has brought a range of smaller frozen ready-baked potatoes to market.

Zoë Bannister, commercial director for Bannisters' Farm, said: "As mothers of young children, we were inspired by our own needs as our larger baked potatoes were too big for their smaller appetites."

Bannisters' Farm Littl'uns use only British jacket potatoes, which take three minutes to microwave from frozen.

They are baked in the traditional manner and then frozen immediately. They contain no added salt, are low in fat, rich in fibre and gluten-free.

Bannister said: "We feel we have identified another gap in the market, in much the same way as we did in 2007 when we first introduced the concept of a frozen baked potato to retail.

"We believe that innovation is what is needed to keep the freezer aisle interesting and the consumer motivated and that small companies like ours are leading the way in this."
